Wai'anapanapa State Park State Parks Camping



Description

Cabins are for the exclusive enjoyment of guests listed on the permit.  Individuals not listed on the permit are not allowed at the cabins, but they are welcome to visit in public areas of the park during the park's hours of operation from 7:00am to 6:00pm. ADVISORY: Pest control services are conducted on the first Tuesday of every month at all cabins and at the public restroom.

Cabin Rates2-night minimum (if only a single night is available, cabins may be rented for one night).  HI Residents:  $70 per cabin per night.     Non-residents:  $100 per cabin per night. 

Permits must be obtained at least seven (7) days in advance of occupancy date.  No changes will be accepted to an existing permit less than seven (7) days prior to the check-in date shown on the permit.  Permits are not transferable.

Tent Camping Rates:  HI Residents:  $20 per night for up to 10 persons. Non-residents:  $30 per night for up to 10 persons  Children 2 and under free.  Must have a tent. One permit can accommodate up to 10 people, if space is available. Undesignated campground is an open lawn for tent camping only. There are no assigned camp sites in this area.

• All campers must be listed on the tent camping permit at the time of booking, due to capacity limits for the tent camping area. If all campers within your party can not be listed at the time of booking your reservation, this means that we cannot accommodate your entire party, or we are sold out.

Campervan Rates:  HI Residents:  $20 per night for up to 6 persons  Non-residents:  $30 per night for up to 6 persons  Children 2 and under free.  Must have a Campervan or on-vehicle mounted tent. Please see the link below for more information and examples.

Location

In Hana at end of Wai‘anapanapa Road off Hana Highway (Highway 360), 52.8 miles (3 hour drive) east of Kahului Airport.  Remote, wild, low-cliffed volcanic coastline offering solitude and respite from urban life. Lodging, camping, picnicking, shore fishing and hardy family hiking along an ancient Hawaiian coastal trail which leads to Hana. Excellent opportunity to view a seabird colony and anchialine pools. Other features include native hala forest, heiau (religious temple), natural stone arch, sea stacks, blow holes and small black sand beach.

CABINSAs of September 2016, cabins now have a 2-night minimum rental (if only a single night is available, cabins may be rented for one night).  Each unit can accommodate up to 6 persons.  These cabins consist of a kitchen-living room, a bathroom, and 1 bedroom. It is furnished with bedroom and kitchen furniture, electric 2-burner hotplate, microwave, refrigerator.  Linen, pillows and towels as well as dishes, cooking and eating utensils are NOT provided in the cabins.

*USDOJ defines service animals as " dogs" that are individually trained to do work or perform tasks directly related to the person's disability.  Service animals must be under control of handler at all times and must be housebroken.

LODGING: Key pick up is no longer required. 2-night minimum rental.  A copy of permit is required for access to your cabin. Main cabin entry doors are combination locked. The last four (4) digits of your permit number is your access code. The cabin has water and electricity and consist of a living area with 1 bunk bed; a bedroom with 2 bunk beds (unit sleeps 6 total); bathroom with a shower (hot/cold water), toilet and basin; kitchen with a refrigerator, electric 2-burner hotplate, microwave. LINEN, PILLOWS AND TOWELS, COOKING AND EATING UTENSILS ARE NOT PROVIDED.

CAMPING: Must have a tent or an authorized camper van.  Check-in between 3:00 pm – 6:00 pm.  If arriving after 6:00 pm, the gate leading to the campground area will be closed but not locked.  You may open the gate to enter the area, but please be sure to close the gate after entering behind you.  Camping is by permit only.  Only individuals listed on permit are allowed to camp and remain in the park after 6:00 pm. Check-out before 10 AM.  Please post permit on tent or camper. Camping allowed only within designated areas on a first-come, first-served basis. No open campfires allowed. Cook on camp stoves, portable grills or park provided bbq grills only.

Refund Policy

Refunds must be requested at least 15 days in advance of your check-in date. No online refunds inside of 15 days to check-in.
To request a refund, login and click on “My Reservations”, then select the appropriate "Refund/Cancellation" link and follow the instructions.

Refunds for credit cards minus service fee and cancellation fee ($5), will be credited back to your card. Card must be the same as original purchase.
To request a refund less than 15 days in advance, you must email an appeal, with reason, to <DLNR.DSP.Permits@hawaii.gov>  Appeals are evaluated on a case-by-case basis and may not be approved.
You may add additional days to an existing permit (up to the maximum allowable consecutive nights stay), or you may switch dates entirely, availability permitting. Additional lodging fees, as well as a change fee, will apply and must be paid for at the time of the change. CHANGES TO DATES OF STAY MUST BE MADE MORE THAN 7 DAYS PRIOR TO YOUR DATE OF CHECK-IN. WITHIN 7 DAYS, NO DATE CHANGES ARE ALLOWED.
However, cancellation or reductions in dates MUST BE MADE AT LEAST 15 PRIOR TO YOUR DATE OF CHECK-IN. WITHIN 15 DAYS, NO REDUCTION IN DATE CHANGES ARE ALLOWED.
Availability permitting, yes, within the same park, you may switch your campsite number if there is space.
No switching parks allowed. To change your stay to another park, you need to cancel your permit, request a refund more than 15 days before check-in date, and purchase a new permit for your desired site.
There is a $3 fee to change your dates of stay, to switch campsite number, or to add guests.  There is no change fee to add days, but you will incur the additional camping costs for extra nights.
 
REFUNDS/CHANGES DUE TO SEVERE WEATHER AND PARK CLOSURES:
In the event that severe weather (flash floods/tropical storms or hurricanes) is forecasted to affect a park area, or forces a park closure, permittees will be notified and given the option to either revise their dates to a future stay, or receive a refund.  Inquiries regarding these situations can be directed to <DLNR.DSP.Permits@hawaii.gov>.
